Jewellery helps boost sales at JCPenneyThursday, 19th August 2004 (4200 views) JCPenney has revealed its jewellery departments have been performing well, as it announces its second quarter results.Figures showed that operating profit nearly tripled to $156 million, with back-to-school sales being boosted by fine jewellery. Allen Questrom, chairman and chief executive officer said: "I am pleased with second quarter operating results, and our recently announced capital structure repositioning. "Our management team is focused on the customer and ensuring we are delivering fashionable, trend-right merchandise assortments that offer quality and value, with the added convenience of our three shopping channels." The company is also confident that sales and profits in the third quarter will also continue to see improvements.
