Tuesday, 10th August 2004 (5577 views) Henry Birks & Sons, a 125-year-old Canadian jewellery company has revealed it is to open its first US based manufacturing and product development centre.<BR/><BR/>The move is likely to create new job opportunities since the company plans to use Rhode Island's skilled jewellery workers as its workforce.<BR/><BR/>A former employee of Tiffany's is already group vice president of supply chain operations for Birks and mayors as part of the new move.<BR/><BR/>Gold product development will now be focused at the new facility along with silver and gemstones pieces.<BR/><BR/>The business offers fine jewellery and diamond rings and also designs and makes wristwatches, gifts and clocks.<BR/><BR/>Birks has 38 stores across Canada and Mayors Jewelers has 28 stores in operation in Florida and Georgia.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3202272"/>
