Lebanese jewellery showcased at BIEL

Monday, 9th August 2004 (4366 views)

The jewellery industry in Lebanon is on display this week, using models and fast cars to help display the latest designs.

Collections were showcased in the Beirut International Leisure and Exhibition Centre (BIEL) with some pieces worth up to $1 million.

According to the Daily Star, exhibitor stands were so impressive they were like upscale shops rather than simply temporary stalls.

The annual Joaillerie Liban (Lebanese Jewelry) exhibition is used to help boost retail sales for the industry.

There are around 1,000 gold and diamond producers in Lebanon, with local jewellers exporting at least $500 of gold and diamonds each year.
