Tourists in Middle East boost jewellery marketThursday, 5th August 2004 (4008 views) Jewellers have welcomed the increase in tourism and travel in the Middle East as it continues to boost demand for luxury goods.According to jewellers such as Frederic Bega, the Middle East market is more open to new ideas than other regions and high quality jewellery is particularly in demand. Visitor numbers have increased to 30.4 million and on average tourists tend to spend an average of $1,874 per trip. Jewellery appears to be a popular purchase both in duty free outlets and in exclusive shops in major cities, according to Khaleej Times. Reportedly a number of jewellery companies are also planning to launch at the upcoming Middle East Exclusive trade show, an event for the duty free, travel and luxury goods industry.
