Tourists boosting Singapore luxury watch salesThursday, 29th July 2004 (4934 views) Recovering regional economy and increasing tourist numbers have led to rocketing sales growth in the area's three biggest watch retailers.The Hour Glass, Sincere Watch Co and Cortina Holdings account for 60 to 70 per cent of the market and claim all sales were robust in the first half of 2004. It is thought the trend will continue into the second half. To make the most of the increasing demand all three retailers are hosting back-to-back exhibitions from August to October to display some S$190 million worth of watches. Rose Tong, Cortina's marketing manager told Dow Jones: "This is probably the first time we're holding such major exhibitions over three consecutive months." The tourists spending the most on watches include Thai and Indian visitors.
