Art Deco jewellery popular againFriday, 16th July 2004 (4465 views) US collectors have reported an increased demand for Art Deco jewellery, with consumers interested in its distinctiveness and quality of craftsmanship. The pieces are made into intricate shapes with precise outlines and include long pendants, bangle bracelets, cocktail rings and elaborate accessories. A particularly popular item of choice was a double-clip brooch, which could be worn either as a single piece or separately. Melissa Wolfgang, a dealer from Geneva told Palm Beach Post: "Seventy-five years after its debut, Art Deco jewellery is still the epitome of timeless chic." "At the time, gold was being used in the war effort, and very hard to come by...Compared to Edwardian or Belle poque, it is more versatile...It is the most attractive because it is the most wearable," she added. Big name jewellers are all offering the popular jewellery including Tiffany and Cartier.
