New jewellery collection unveiled by SucreWednesday, 14th July 2004 (4117 views) A new collection has been launched by French jewellery designer Medina Smith's Sucre line. The new pieces include couture gemstone jewellery with unusually cut shapes including checkerboards, twisted drops and spirals. However Ms Smith is more concerned with accessorising rather than being innovative, claiming: "I simply wanted to create gemstone jewellery as couture as my Jimmy Choos." Sucre has changed its approach with this new collection, turning to the use of precious metals such as matte 24 carat gold, whilst still including its signature precision gemstone cuts. The line has also recently been nominated for a Best Designer - Accessories award in one of the largest international fashion competitions in the world. Prices for the designs range from $45 to $1300 and items are sold online and through showrooms in the US and France.
