Gold and jewellery retail outlets in Dubai are enjoying a surge in sales as a range of promotional schemes help to drive up profits.

According to the Gold and Jewellery Group Dubai, projects such as the Dubai Summer Surprises scheme have helped secure a sales increase of 12 per cent.

Around 300 members of the group are involved in the 10-week campaign, which offers a weekly prize of one kilo of gold.

Gold and Jewellery Group Dubai Chairman, Tawhid Abdullah, says the promotion has proved popular with visitors and locals alike.

"We have been delighted with the enthusiastic response of shoppers to our promotion, proving once again that for variety, quality and value for money Dubai remains the best place in the world to buy jewellery. Our members are recording record sales and we are looking forward to an enormously successful summer that will help to make Dubai a truly global destination for jewellery," he told AME Info.

Dubai boasts a range of gold styles, compassing jewellery made in the UAE, Indian designs and also classic Italian pieces.
