Degem Bhd anticipates retail expansion

Thursday, 8th July 2004 (4622 views)

Fine jewellery manufacturer Degem Bhd says it is experiencing a strong growth in sales and is confident of its outlook in the gold and diamond market.

The firm, which is focused largely on gold and diamonds, is anticipating growth of around 20 per cent for its turnover this year.

A newly expanded network of retail outlets and higher consumer demand are expected to boost profits.

"The group saw steady growth in turnover in the past few years. We see profit rising accordingly," executive director Paul Chong told The Star.

"This year, DeGem will open at least two more outlets - one in Damansara and another in Shah Alam," he went on. "We will invest an average of RM2mil for each outlet."

DeGem already boasts 20 outlets in Malaysia, with overseas stores now a possibility.
