Asda announces jewellery department rollout plansFriday, 2nd July 2004 (6024 views) UK retailer Asda has announced new £8.5 million rollout plans, which will include additional jewellery departments instore.The development is hoped to take place between now and the end of 2004 and is set to create 570 jobs and boost local economies by £5.7 million. David Miles, ASDA's business unit director for speciality, said: "More people than ever before will be able to take advantage of our fantastic jewellery ranges...all at every day low prices." Around 29 stores will receive jewellery departments and around three quarters of stores will have a jewellery counter by the end of the year. In addition self-select units in other stores mean that the rest of the Asda stores will also have a jewellery offering in some sort of form. The rollout also includes optical and photo departments.
