Tuesday, 8th June 2004 (5919 views) A jewellery exchange centre is to be set up in Bahrain with the help of Thailand.<BR/><BR/>Thailand which has an annual $2.5 billion gemstone and jewellery export figure will help by transferring expertise and necessary training facilities, according to the Bahrain Tribune.<BR/><BR/>As part of Bahrain's side of the deal, it will allow the Thai private sector to bid for construction projects in Bahrain.<BR/><BR/>Thailand has already been helping participate in Jewellery Arabia since its launch. However some are against the move and not cooperating, with some banning or reducing the size of participation.<BR/><BR/>Director General for South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs at the Thai Foreign Ministry Snanchart Devahastin claimed: "We're confident of our jewellery standards, and the government would never encourage jewellery manufacturers to copy any brand names."<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2785319"/>
