Innovative jewellery store approved

Friday, 28th May 2004 (4678 views)

A new jewellery store has been approved in St Helena City in the US and is set to offer shops custom designed and manufactured jewellery in gold and platinum.

Marlowe & Company Jewelers will be the fourth store in the area and plans to be unique, selling items that range in price from $50 to $1,000, according to the St Helena Star.

Lydia Wilson, owner of the new store will have her workstation in the centre of the shop to allow customers to observe the jewellery making and is planning to offer "less expensive, finely crafted quality jewellery".

Ms Wilson had to gain a permit for the store and received three votes to one in favour of the new venture.

St. Helena attorney Robert Fanucci represented Ms Wilson and reassured companies concerned about competition that "new business should be able to compete with old business".
