Friday, 7th May 2004 (5892 views) A new study has offered an insight into the gold jewellery buying habits of brides-to-be.<BR/><BR/>Figures compiled by the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) found that 14 carat yellow gold was the most popular metal of choice for over 50 per cent of participants.<BR/><BR/>In addition two-tone white and yellow gold was rated as third most popular, according to Professional Jeweler.<BR/><BR/>When questioned on price, 14 carat yellow gold wedding bands were also the most popular type for men, with 60 per cent of people spending between $1,000 and $5,000 on an engagement ring.<BR/><BR/>The second most popular choice for grooms was 18k white and yellow gold bands, with the majority of people (35 per cent) spending more than $500.<BR/><BR/>JCOC's research was carried out between March 23 and April 1 and was based on responses from 2,472 consumers.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2574190"/>
