Dubai's Gold and Jewellery Group has appeared for the first time at this year's Baselworld to represent the area as a jewellery centre.

The group featured at the premier international jewellery exhibition in a bid to promote Dubai brands and locally produced fine jewellery.

Mr. Chetan Karani, Chairman of the Baselworld Organising Committee at the Gold and Jewellery Group Dubai told AME Info: "The Gold and Jewellery Group's efforts at the global event focused on promoting Dubai as a manufacturing centre and an international hub for gold, jewellery, gemstones and precious metals.

"Until now Dubai's has been known only for its purchase power. The much-awaited task of positioning Dubai as a regional jewellery manufacturing and marketing centre has been just realized with the launch of Dubai Pavilion in Baselworld."

Reportedly the group now hopes to participate in further events such as Vicenza, Hong Kong and JCK Las Vegas.

Over 2,100 exhibitors took part in the event displaying watches, jewellery and precious stones to more than 80,000 watch and jewellery manufacturers from across the world.
