A jewel-adorned dress worth $2.5 million has gone on display at a US diamond jewellers this week.

The couture golden coloured dress is covered in more than 3,000 hand-sewn 2,00 carats worth of stones, according to Tacy Ltd.

Now the dress worn at this year's Academy Awards is being used to promote natural coloured diamonds.

The stunning dress is part of the Red Carpet Collection by the Natural Color Diamond Association at Albert's Diamond Jewellers in Indiana.

Entertainment Tonight reporter Maria Menounos wore the outfit, which was designed by Randi Rahm.
