US women are increasingly likely to buy their own jewellery according to reports.

As luxury goods become more affordable and more working women have the money to buy quality items, top products are being bought by females for themselves rather than as gifts from men, according to Transworld.

Envirosell, a consulting company which provides data on shopping trends claims that more and more women are buying lavish treats such as gold jewellery and diamonds.

Additional reasons for increased jewellery consumption are the fact that in the US workers are earning more money and so such items are not as hard to get as was previously the case.

Anne Marie Luthro from Envirosell offered a range of tips to retailers to further increase their sales and explained items should have key information displayed with them as women are shoppers that like to be able to view information on the object they are looking for.
