Italian gold jewellery exhibition wows DubaiMonday, 5th April 2004 (5803 views) Damas the World Gold Council and Vicenza fair have organised a showcase of Italian god jewellery in Dubai and the Middle East.The exhibition, Gold Expressions: the language of Italian Design, aims to reinvigorate demand for Italian gold jewellery, by highlighting its quality and broad consumer appeal. A press conference, held at the Fairmont Hotel, showcased jewellery collections from numerous famous Italian designers. The collection was also on display at the Burjuman Centre from March 22 - 26 March 2004, and from 29 March to 2 April at Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi. The collection now sets of on a world tour. Damas also took the opportunity to launch 'Uno Trend: Damas Youth Collection', AME Info reports. The 18 carat gold collection is endorsed by former Ms Universe and Bollywood actress, Lara Dutta and is divided into the four categories - Gold for Love, Gold to Glow, Gold to Express Yourself and Gold to Create an Impression. The Gold Expressions collection features over 400 pieces from 54 of Italy's top gold jewellery designers and manufacturers Moaz Barakat, managing director for Middle East, Turkey and Pakistan for the World Gold Council, commented: "We are delighted to be strengthening our long-standing relationship with Damas and the Vicenza Fair, and we believe that this united effort will result to a positive response from consumers and shall bring strong statement about the relevance of Italian expertise in design, craftsmanship and innovation." The Vicenza Fair organises events such as Vicenza Oro1, Vicenza Oro2 and Orogemma, the Vicenza Fair or Fiera di Vicenza and is a key player in the gold jewellery market. Dubai is the second biggest importer of Italian gold jewellery in the world, after the United States. Discussions are currently taking place about the possibility of setting up a permanent distribution centre for Italian gold jewellery in Dubai.
