Former actress opens jewellery boutiqueFriday, 2nd April 2004 (5754 views) Neelam Kothari has opened her own jewellery store in Bandra, India.The actress is now a jewellery designer and she described opening her new shop, Neelam Jewels, as a dream come true. The jewellery showroom is located on Linking Road and opened on March 30th with a host of film stars in attendance. All the designs are exclusively handcrafted in 18 carat gold or platinum and set with precious stones such as diamonds, emeralds and rubies. "A number of my designs are inspired by antique period pieces. But they all have a certain twist in keeping with the current trends," Neelam explained. The performer has been designing jewellery for over ten years and her family has businesses in India, Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Thailand and the Far East, selling to leading jewellers including Fred Leighton, Cellini and through auction houses such as Sotheby's and Christie's. Neelam said: "I knew that I would eventually join the family business some day. The fascination with precious stones, especially coloured ones, and their various creative possibilities set in early for me."
