Demand was high at this year's Inhorgenta jewellery show, with gold displayed at a number of special exhibitions.

Although there was a slight fall in visitor numbers, new products and fashion trends helped increase business at the event, held at Munich Trade Centre.

This year was the 31st international trade fair displaying jewellery, watches, clocks, stones, pearls, silverware and manufacturing equipment.

Trade at the event was more focused on shop design and service, with a number of displays and seminars taking place.

Among the companies on show were American watchmaker Bulova with watches ranging from sports to fashion and all made of high quality materials such as 18-carat gold. As well as this ChristinK provided glamourous high quality toe jewellery with designs in 14 carat yellow and white gold.

In addition, jewellery for both men and women was displayed by jewellery designer Carl Dau, whose range focused on calm and simplicity and had gold as one of his preferred materials.

Results from the show caused the industry to take a more optimistic view of present business and market trends.

Discussing the success of the event, Chairman and CEO of Messe Munchen, Manfred Wutzlhofer said: 'The increasing demand on the part of the retail trade is showing that after the years of economic activity, which weighed particularly on the consumer goods area, there is now a growing optimism in the sector.'
