Tuesday, 17th February 2004 (6285 views) New York Fashion Week has been treated to a series of elegant displays this week, with gold playing a leading role.<BR/><BR/>Renowned designer and newly prominent jewellery craftsman Miguel Adrover was one of those who showed off some new lines that used the precious metal.<BR/><BR/>Mr Adrover, who typically shows just one collection of clothes a year, has begun working within the precious metals jewellery medium, fashioning his first new line.<BR/><BR/>Already experts have singled out a necklace of swallows handmade in gold as one of his finer pieces.<BR/><BR/>Elsewhere the US fashion world embraced newcomer Sebastian Pons, who used to work with Miguel Adrover, who also drew on the lustre of the yellow metal for inspiration.<BR/><BR/>Mr Pons used the theme of Spanish explorers to the New World, weaving in references to the Incas.<BR/><BR/>One of his pieces, a gold crystal mesh tunic dress, showed off an unusual flair and won praise from critics.
