Wednesday, 11th February 2004 (6303 views) A new museum showcasing the Nizam's priceless gold jewellery is likely to be set up beside the Gems and Jewellery Park at Hyderabad, India, it has been revealed. <BR/><BR/>The museum is expected to be constructed after the Indian Government approves the plans and design submitted by the state. <BR/><BR/>The state government, re-housing the Nizam's jewels for reasons including security issues, favoured a site at Banjara Hills where the Gems Park is now being constructed. <BR/><BR/>The jewels, mainly collected by Mir Osman Ali Pasha, the last ruler of the erstwhile Niz-am state, will remain the property of the Indian government <BR/><BR/>The collection includes over 350 objects made of gold and silver, many elaborately carved. <BR/><BR/>One of the highlights of the priceless collection is a wooden chair coated with gold, especially made for the silver-jubilee celebrations of Nizam Osman. <BR/><BR/>A showroom to sell replicas of the Nizam's jewellery is also proposed for the museum premises.
