A new gold jewellery showroom in Dubai is set to house the Middle East's biggest wholesale collection.

Taiba for Gold and Jewellery Company, one of the largest production firms in the Middle East, is to deliver a new showcase room at Gold Land.

A contract with East Magic Engineering Consultants and Imagepoint Interiors has been secured, which will mark the beginning of the major new development.

Taiba says the production of the 10,000 square feet room is part of a strategy to develop its global brand, promoting gold jewellery across the world, using Dubai as the hub of its operations.

Mohammed Al Ashrafi, chief executive of international marketing for Taiba, told Gulf News that he anticipated a major step up in the industry.

'Our new showroom will totally change the way the wholesale gold market has traditionally done business,' he commented.

The World Gold Council says it expects the showroom will help to change the image of gold business in the UAE, placing an emphasis on the fashionable demand for the precious metal.
