Jewellery designer to the stars, Elizabeth Showers, has spoken of her love for working with gold, revealing that the precious metal is increasingly popular amongst her patrons.

Her work has been worn by Jennifer Lopez in 'The Wedding Planner' and by Queen Latifah in 'Bringin' Down the House'. Actors Sharon Stone and Gwyneth Paltrow also wear Ms Showers' designs.

In an interview with the Plano Star Courier, she said that her gold pieces sells better than silver, especially in Texas, with a growing number of women now opting for matching sets of earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

Even though the stars in Hollywood snap up her jewellery, the celebrated designer says she is still careful to design her pieces so that they are within the reach of many. She has also donated pieces to charity.

The Texan jeweller's own favourite piece of jewellery is a pair of chandelier-styled aquamarine and gold earrings.

This year she says that gold fashioned in the lean linear look is in. Ms Showers' line of gold and gemstone earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are found exclusively at 30 Neiman Marcus stores around the US.
